Algae Armor

Algae Armor is a mineral-based solution applied to bodies of water such as lakes and ponds once a year to prevent the growth of algae. Algae Armor is a product intended for use by Departments of Natural Resources, Fish & Wildlife agencies, municipalities and other entities charged with the oversight of ponds, lakes and wetlands. Modern agricultural practices have resulted in a significant increase in runoff that eventually reaches our lakes and ponds. This runoff adds the phosphates and nitrates (nutrients) that spawn algae and this problem is slated to get worse with the increased competition for agricultural and recreational land.

One application of Algae Armor once a year creates a layer of defense against algae in addition to building a layer of protection on the bed of a lake or pond. Algae Armor works by bonding to nutrients and forming an insoluble particle. These particles settle to the bottom of the lake and keep the nutrients tightly bonded and biologically unavailable. Depending on the method of application, a particle layer can be established on the lake bottom, forming a long-term nutrient barrier, lasting up to 15 years.

Algae Armor boasts silicate-based enhancement technology. This innovation significantly broadens the pH range at which good results are obtained, improves the pH-stability of the particles formed, and increases the speed and effectiveness of the reaction.

Algae Armor addresses the root cause of eutrophication and algae blooms. Its use in lake waters improves the functionality of the ecosystem and can assist in preserving fish stocks, critical habitats and enhance safe recreational use.
